Community for First Steps

Acceptable Use

The rules that keep Community safe and worth trusting — for everyone.

Last updated: [DATE]

1. THE SHORT VERSION

Be honest, be respectful, use the platform for what it is for: real local work experience. We remove people who put young people at risk or abuse the platform's trust.

2. EVERYONE MUST NOT

  • Give false information or impersonate any person or business.
  • Harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse anyone.
  • Post unlawful, sexual, violent or otherwise inappropriate content.
  • Attempt to take conversations with under-18s off-platform before an offer, or ask anyone for unnecessary personal information.
  • Interfere with the platform's operation or security, scrape data, or create accounts by automated means.

3. BUSINESSES MUST NOT

  • Post listings that are not genuine work experience placements, or that misdescribe the role, location, hours or pay.
  • Use the platform to recruit for anything other than the placement listed, to advertise unrelated services, or to collect applicant data for other purposes.
  • Contact applicants outside the platform before making a formal offer through it.
  • Charge applicants anything in connection with a placement.

4. APPLICANTS MUST NOT

  • Apply using another person's identity or documents.
  • Accept placements with no intention of attending, or repeatedly no-show without withdrawing.

5. ENFORCEMENT

We may remove content, withdraw listings, suspend or permanently close accounts, and — where behaviour may be unlawful or puts someone at risk — report it to the police or relevant authorities. We do not owe anyone a warning first where a young person's safety is involved.

6. REPORTING

If you see any of this happening, use Report a concern. Reports are reviewed by our team.
