Community for First Steps

Accessibility

A first step should be reachable by everyone.

1. OUR COMMITMENT

We want every young person to be able to use Community, whatever technology they use to browse. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across the platform, and we treat accessibility problems as bugs, not suggestions.

2. WHAT WE DO

We design with readable text sizes and colour contrast, label form fields and buttons for screen readers, support keyboard navigation for core journeys (browsing, applying, messaging), and test key pages on mobile devices, where most of our users are.

3. KNOWN LIMITATIONS

We are a young platform and not everything is perfect yet. [LIST ANY KNOWN ISSUES HERE, OR REMOVE THIS BRACKETED LINE IF NONE ARE KNOWN.] We are working through issues as we find them.

4. TELL US

If any part of Community is hard for you to use — or you need information from the site in a different format — email [CONTACT EMAIL] with the page and the problem. We take these reports seriously and reply as quickly as we can.

5. THIS STATEMENT

This statement was prepared on [DATE] and is reviewed when the platform materially changes.
